Mid-Life

12.1.09

A bird caught mid-flight,

Mid-life,

By a bullet through the air

That moment frozen in time,

Everything fine,

Except the coming despair

This bird was never meant to die,

Only fly

Oh God, it's not fair!

A bird caught mid-flight,

Mid-life,

By a bullet through the air

Penetrating Cold

10.14.09

Cold and partly cloudy skies

A greyness settles on the land

Seeps into the skin

Soaks up all rays of sun

And it penetrates my bones, my veins

The greyness stays beneath the skin

Hibernating like a bear in her den

Dry fur flowing from my head to my feet

Softly blowing through me its snarly breeze

T.V. Spiders

10.22.09

There are spiders on the T.V.

There is media all over me

We can never do exactly right

Spinning webs of intellect

Catching simple minded humans on the net

Fooling flies into supporting our demands

And we all go on humming

A simple tune we got from all the buzzing

Attempting to Describe Him

9.27.09

Is there a poet in the sanctuary

A lowly man in the midst

Of an eternal Being

Able to summon words to describe Him?

An impossible task to take on

For mere words are unable

To contain even those things He has done

And some people interpret them as token fable

Oh dear and intelligent man

Don't be so naive to think

That God does not hold in hand

The very words that will describe Him

There is a poet in the holy sanctuary

Summoning words from the depths of soul

By listening to the movements of silence

Among icon and stained glass window

God does give, and man will receive

A frame of sentence and stanza

To picture the glory of Him we believe

And there... finding a feeling that's contagious

Contemplating the Moon

11.7.09

In the clear blue morning sky

I see the remnants of the night...

A full moon hangs softly above me

And I stop to ponder its light

Remember Me in Streetlights

11.16.09

Remember me

Whenever you see

A soft glow

Of streetlights reflecting low

Off the wet pavement

In a retrospective tint

Think Love

11.4.09

What you think of me

Doesn't change what I think of you

Doesn't change what I think of me

I love you

And I love

Thoughts don't change love

Love is a state of mind

Love is a decision you make

If you think I'm ugly

That doesn't change me

If you wish me dead

I'll die to myself

And love you instead

Hate won't stunt love's growth

It won't, it's my own

And when everything's gone

This love will go on
